Sistemas Exteriores de Grado Marino: Protección contra la Corrosión

Corrosion Environment Categories\n\nISO 12944 defines corrosion environments from C1 (very low) to CX (extreme). Coastal locations within 1km of the sea typically fall into C4 (high) or C5 (very high) categories. Direct seafront locations with salt spray exposure may reach CX classification. The corrosion category determines minimum protection requirements for all metallic components. Alcodec coastal installations are specified to C5 or CX protection levels as standard for locations within 500m of the shoreline.\n\n## Marine-Grade Aluminium Alloys\n\nStandard architectural aluminium alloys 6063-T6 and 6082-T6 provide good corrosion resistance in most environments. For severe coastal exposure, additional protection through anodising or enhanced powder coating systems is essential. The natural oxide layer on aluminium provides inherent corrosion resistance, but chloride ions from sea salt can initiate pitting corrosion if the oxide layer is compromised. Regular cleaning (quarterly minimum for coastal locations) removes salt deposits before they can cause damage.\n\n## SEASIDE Coating Systems\n\nSEASIDE class powder coating provides enhanced corrosion protection for coastal applications. The system uses a chromate-free pre-treatment followed by a high-build polyester powder coat with minimum 80-micron thickness (versus standard 60-micron). Enhanced edge coverage and double-coat options provide additional protection at vulnerable points. QUALICOAT SEASIDE certification requires passing 2000-hour neutral salt spray testing per ISO 9227.\n\n## Hardware and Fastener Selection\n\nAll fasteners for coastal installations must be A4 (316) marine-grade stainless steel. Standard A2 (304) stainless steel is not suitable for direct coastal exposure due to susceptibility to chloride-induced stress corrosion. EPDM gaskets and seals provide long-term UV and salt resistance. Nylon and PEEK polymer components replace standard acetal parts in motor assemblies for improved chemical resistance. Electrical connections use marine-grade tinned copper conductors with IP67-rated junction boxes.
