Sliding & Folding Glass: Terrace Enclosure Guide

Frameless glass systems to transform your terrace into a year-round space.

Sliding vs Folding Glass Systems

Sliding glass systems use panels on parallel rails that stack to one side. Folding (accordion) systems pivot on hinges, folding flat. Sliding offers smoother operation and better wind resistance; folding provides a wider opening ratio (up to 95% vs 75% for sliding). Choose sliding for exposed locations, folding for maximum openness.

Frameless Design

Both systems use frameless tempered safety glass panels (8–10 mm) with minimal aluminium hardware. The result is an almost invisible barrier that maintains panoramic views when closed and disappears when open. No vertical mullions obstruct the sightline.

Weather Performance

Tempered glass panels rated for 130 km/h wind loads. Brush seals between panels provide water resistance for normal rain. For heavy rain zones, optional EPDM gaskets upgrade to full weatherproofing. Threshold height: 15 mm for easy wheelchair/trolley access.

Applications

Primary use: enclosing pergolas, verandas and terraces for three/four-season use. Also used for restaurant terraces, hotel lobbies, pool enclosures and residential balconies. In some jurisdictions, glass-enclosed terraces are not counted as built area — providing tax and planning advantages.
