Fire Safety Regulations for Staircase Railings in Turkey
Overview of Turkish building fire protection regulations for staircase railings: minimum heights, material requirements, fire escape stair obligations and glass railing usage in escape routes.
Turkish Fire Protection Regulation
Regulation 2007/12937 governs fire protection in all Turkish buildings. Railing heights, escape stair requirements and material specifications are detailed.
Railing Heights and Spacing
Minimum height residential: 900mm, public: 1100mm. Max bar spacing: 110mm. Stairs wider than 200cm must be divided with railings into 100-160cm sections.
Fire Escape Requirements
4+ storeys: fire escape mandatory. 21.5m+ buildings: minimum 2 escape stairs. Both sides must have railings. 120-minute fire resistance for walls.
Glass Railings in Fire Safety
Glass is non-combustible but loses barrier function above 250°C. Aluminium or steel railings recommended for fire escape stairs. Glass railings are permitted for normal stairs and balconies.
